Alice Caissie zette Corso Zundert op haar bucketlist na het zien van een YouTube-filmpje. Alice woont in Canada, is 68 jaar en houdt van houtsnijden en cross-country skiën. ln 2015 deed ze een eerste poging om naar de optocht te gaan kijken, maar ze kreeg geen reisverzekering. Het jaar erna kreeg haar man leverkanker waardoor ze niet weg ken. ln december 2016 besloot ze om als kunstenaar contact op te nemen met Zundert en mee te helpen aan een van de wagens. Paul Bastiaansen werd haar contactpersoon, tipte een fijne B&B plus de mogelijkheid om aan te sluiten bij buurtschap Tiggelaar. Twee maanden voor het corso van 2017 kreeg haar man longkanker. Toen ze ook deze reis wilde afzeggen, slaken haar man en zoons daar een stokJe voor. De zoons beloofden goed voor hun vader te zorgen.
Eenmaal in Zundert ging Alice helemaal op in het corsogebeuren. Ze werd rondgeleid langs een paar buurtschappen door de eigenaren van haar B&B. Ze ging bij Tiggelaar bouwen en voelde zich meteen thuis in de corsofamilie. Alice hielp mee waar dat kon. Maakte dagen van meer dan twaalf uur. Het gevoel dat ze tijdens de optocht had, kan ze nauwelijks beschrijven. En het feestje met de 'locals' na afloop was onvergetelijk. De rest van haar nog vrije dagen bracht ze door in Zundert. Ze maakte een praatje op straat en bezocht het Van GoghHuis. Alice heeft de B&B al weer geboekt voor volgend jaar en komt dan met twee kleindochters, die ook in de kunst zitten. Deze werkvakantie was haar beste vakantie ooit! ■
CORSO ON YOUR BUCKET LIST

Alice Caissie put Corso Zundert on her bucket list after seeing a YouTube video. Alice lives in Canada, is 68 years old and enjoys wood carving and cross-country skiing. ln 2015 she made a first attempt to go and watch the parade, but she did not get travel insurance. The following year, her husband got liver cancer which prevented her from going. ln December 2016, she decided to contact Zundert as an artist and help out on one of the floats. Paul Bastiaansen became her contact person, tipped off a fine B&B plus the possibility of joining the Tiggelaar hamlet. Two months before the 2017 parade, her husband got lung cancer. When she wanted to cancel this trip as well, her husband and kids assured her they would take good care of their father.
Once in Zundert, Alice was completely absorbed in the parade. She was shown around a few hamlets by the owners of her B&B. She started building at Tiggelaar and immediately felt at home in the corso family. Alice helped out wherever she could. Made days of more than twelve hours. The feeling she had during the parade, she can hardly describe. And the party with the locals afterwards was unforgettable. The rest of her days off she spent in Zundert. She chatted in the streets and visited the Van GoghHuis. Alice has already booked the B&B for next year and will come with two granddaughters, who are also into art. This working vacation was her best vacation ever! ■
